I don't know if this is what you mean by "cheese chips," but these are REALLY easy to make in the microwave. In fact, before posting this message, I had to take a break and make some for myself!

Parmesan Snowflakes
Makes 6-7 at a time

Ingredient:
shredded Parmesan cheese *DO NOT USE GRATED CHEESE* what you want is freshly shredded cheese or the packaged kind that comes in long, thin shreds

Method:
I use a microwave-safe dinner plate. Sprinkle 6-7 small mounds (a little over 1 teaspoon each) of the shredded cheese, spacing them in a ring near the rim of the plate. (You can also place one mound in the center, but it won't cook as crisp.) Flatten them slightly into lacy circles about 1-1/4" around.

Microwave on high about 45 seconds. Watch carefully; the cheese should melt and bubble and tinge very slightly with golden brown. Do not overheat or the cheese will dry up and become inedible.

Remove from the plate, using a knife tip or your fingers, while still hot. Serve hot, warm, or at room temperature.

You can also bake these on a nonstick (or parchment paper-lined) baking sheet in a conventional oven, but I don't know the temperature or time. Again, they need to be watched carefully so that the cheese melts but doesn't burn.
