This recipe is the BEST! For the frosting, I just buy the ready made kind and tint it with food coloring.
Hope this is what you were looking for.Sugar Cookies (for cutouts)
1 cup softened butter or oleo 3/4 cup sugar 1 egg 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Cream above ingredients together.
Add:
2 1/2 cups flour 2 teaspoons baking powder 1/4 teaspoon salt
Mix well. Roll out on lightly floured surface and cut out cookie cutters. Sprinkle colored sugar on at this point or frost after cooling.
Bake 6-8 minutes at 400*. Do not overbake. Cool before frosting.
I usually double this recipe and it will keep up to 2 weeks in the fridge.
