Boxes that hold cases of soda (for some, beer) are my favorite cupcake transporters. For your need, I would turn the box upside down and have my husband cut holes to hold the cones base -spaced just the right amount of needed space apart. Then place the box inside a bit larger box, taped in place and then put the piece-de-resistance in the holes. I hope this isn't too late and hope this helps.
