Good Morning. There is another shortening that you can use. It is known as "EMULSIFIED SHORTENING". Your bakery food supplier can get it for you. If not The catalog company called"MAID OF SCANDIA" sells it.
IF THIS DOES NOT HELP, FEEL FREE TO POST FURTHER INFORMATION ABOUT HOW YOU DO WHAT YOU ARE DOING ALONG WITH YOUR INGREDIENTS, JUST MAYBE WE CAN UNDERSTAND THEN WE CAN BE FURTHER HELP TO YOU. There is a technigue not well known to many baker's it makes the appearance make appearance of BUTTERCREAM LOOK GLOSSY, I WILL NOT POST IT UNTIL YOU HAVE TRIED THE EMULSIFIED SHORTENING.
