I'm sitting here with my Mirro Cook Book dated 1939. Not sure if this is similar.

MIRRO - TWO EGG CAKE

Time: 25 - 30 Min. Temp. 350-375 F.

2 1/2 cups sifted cake flour
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup shortening
1 1/4 cups sugar
2 eggs, separated
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Sift flour, baking powder and salt together.

Cream shortening thoroughly in a MIRRO Alumilite Mixing Bowl. Add sugar gradually, keeping mixture light and fluffy. Add beaten egg yolks; mix thoroughly. Add sifted dry ingredients, alternately with milk, mixing well after each addition. Add flavoring. Beat egg whites until stiff buy not dry. Fold into batter.

Bake in (lightly greased) MIRRO Aluminum Layer or Loaf Cake Pans.
