HOMEMADE SNO-CONE SLUSHIESFOR THE FROZEN JUICE SYRUP:1 cup frozen cranberry juice or lemonade concentrate, thawed in refrigerator
1 cup cold water
FOR THE KOOL-AID SYRUP (makes 1 cup):1 cup water
1 cup granulated sugar
1 (.4 oz) Kool-Aid packet (no sugar added)
FOR THE SLUSHIES:12 cups ice
TO MAKE THE FROZEN JUICE SYRUP:Combine cranberry juice or lemonade concentrate and water in a 2-cup measure. Refrigerate.
TO MAKE THE KOOL-AID SYRUP:Place the water and the sugar into a small saucepan. Turn heat to medium- high and cook until the sugar has dissolved, approximately 4 to 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Gently whisk in the Kool-Aid packet in the flavor you desire. Refrigerate. Place a large bowl into the freezer.
TO MAKE THE SLUSHIES:Place the ice, 2 cups at a time, into a food processor fitted with a metal chopping blade. Pulse the machine until the ice is finely crushed. Place the ice in the bowl that has been placed in the freezer.
TO SERVE: Using a large ice cream scoop, fill a 10 ounce paper or plastic cup with the crushed ice. Pour a scant 1/2 cup of either the frozen juice or Kool-Aid flavored syrup over the top and serve immediately with a straw and a spoon!
