Thank you so much for posting the old recipe (Betty Crocker Nut Bread)! I have a '71 Betty Crocker cookbook and the binding is held together with duct tape! I could not locate it at Christmas to make my variation - Cranberry-Orange Bread (without nuts). I looked on line but didn't see this site until today. I used another one that resembled my original basic nut bread recipe from the old book.

MY VARIATION:

For Cranberry-Orange Bread (without nuts):
Reduce milk to half the amount
Use half a can of cranberry sauce
and half cup of orange juice
grate some orange zest from the orange. (I have put a peeled orange in the blender before instead of juice as well).

When cooled I take some cranberry sauce mixed with powdered sugar and orange zest and drizzle heavily over the top. My sons always liked to have extra as a 'spread' for it! Looks very nice at Christmas - put a few nice large cranberries from the can across the top.
