I just recently used a mix on half softened butter and half Crisco and made my bett cookie yet. They were cooked, but not crispy and had a nice soft melt in your mouth texture.
Beat together the sugar and wet ingredients as usual. Mix all the dry ingredients together well then mix into the wet with a big wooden spoon, not your mixer. Make sure the cookie dough is at room temperature before placing on the cookie sheet.
If your pure butter or margarine cookies spread too much, try refrigerating the dough before placing on the sheets and cooking.
