I clipped the following from the the LA Times column SOS quite some time ago.
"DEAR SOS: Would Amos part with his recipe for Famous Amos chocolate Chip Cookies? SHELLY
DEAR SHELLY: We think he did when he rattled off this recipe on a network TV show. The cookies look a taste like the FACCC, only better.
FAMOUS CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES
1/2 pound butter
2 eggs
3/4 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon soda
2 1/4 cups flour
2 cups semisweet chocolate pieces
1 cup raisins
Cream together butter, eggs and sugars until light and fluffy. Sift together baking powder, soda and flour. Stir into creamed mixture until well blended. Fold in chocolate and raisins . Drop by teaspoonsfuls onto greased baking sheets and bake at 350 degress 7 minutes. Makes about 8 dozen."
My input: I used pecans instead or raisins. I have almost never eaten the FACCC so I may not be a good judge of how similar it is; they were good cookies nonetheless.
