Beege, I know where you are because of the main TKL message board (the hurricane post - that was me in Florida). The peaches in our markets have been from the southeast and California also - the closest I came to a decent peach was only a few days ago when one of my neighbors passed along a few peaches a friend of hers had gotten while on vacation in Georgia. Some of them were actually juicy and sweet! But not all, sad to say. (I'm so desperate that I'm even trying to grow a peach tree from the seed of one of the good peaches! My husband thinks I've gone around the bend...a peach tree in South Florida?!?)

Verla, this has been my sad experience - A promising peach bought in the store ends up being rotten around the seed. What gives?

Peaches in season used to be so dependably good!

Janet
