You may have simmered the rice at too low a tempeture.

I cook ordinary rice like this:

1 cup rice
2 cups water

Put rice and water into a med. to small pot. Bring to a boil and keep it just at the boiling point boiling until there are pits in the top of the rice and no visible water.
Cover the pan and simmer for 15 min. If it isn't dry enought at the end of the 15 min. Keep checking every few minutes. If the Simmering tempeture is too high you will get a crispy crust on the bottom. I like the crispy crust my DH dosn't.
