This is my family's favorite all-around green bean recipe I tinkered with till everyone said "that's it".

Jean's Green Beans

1 lb. fresh green beans
4 slices bacon, cooked crisp, drained and crumbled, saving bacon drippings
1 small onion, chopped
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 tsp. Tabasco
salt to taste

Wash and snap beans, place in a medium-size saucepan. Cover with water; add onion, garlic powder, Tabasco, salt if desired, and reserved bacon drippings and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to simmer and cover. Cook, covered, 15-20 minutes or to desired tenderness. When done, drain, pour beans into serving bowl and sprinkle with crumbled bacon.
