ISO: Panfried or (stove-top) cornbread

Misc.
My husband swears his late mother made cornbread in a cast iron skillet on top of the stove and NOT in the oven. I've found tons of cast iron skillet cornbread recipes for the oven, but not for the stovetop. Anybody know if there is such a thing-cornbread cooked in iron skillet on the stove-or could it be that he just left the room between the time when she poured the batter in the pan and when she took it out of the oven? Thanks.
