Hi Meg,

I went to Buffalo Market with my Polish grandmother when I was a child. We went on a bus from Depew, NY just to buy a live duck to make czarnina (duck blood soup), brought the duck home in a shopping bag! Hope this will work for you. I remember it as being only about an inch thick but that probably can be adjusted. I just love this stuff.

Mazurek

Mix together and set aside:
1 small yeast cake (can use 1 dry yeast)
1/2 c. scalded mmilk, cooled
3 egg yolks

Mix the following as for piecrust:
1/2 LB. butter
3 c. sifted flour
2 Tblsp. sugar
pinch of salt

Pineapple filling (or filling of choice)

Mix together. Divide dough in half. Line pan
with half the dough,(I use a jellyroll pan - 11x17.) cover with filling. Roll out second half, cut in strips and lattice over top. Let raise one hour. Bake at 350 for 35 min.

Drizzle with the following frosting and sprinkle with chopped nuts if desired.

Frosting: 1 Tblsp butter
1/2 tsp vanilla
powdered sugar, enough to make a pourable frosting

I'm here if you have any questions.
