Hi Emma,
Here is a recipe that I found on line. I hope you find what you're looking for. I'm in WNY also, patiently awaiting spring! Good Luck!
Cinnamon Crescents Cookies 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour 1 teaspoon baking powder 1 cup cold butter or margarine (2 sticks) 1/2 cup milk 1 egg, beaten 1 cup granulated sugar 4 teaspoons ground cinnamon
Wash hands with soap.
Gather all ingredients.
Preheat oven to bake 350 degrees.
Place flour and baking powder in a large bowl.
Cut margarine into small pieces and place into bowl and cut with pastry blender until the size of a pea.
Add the milk and egg and mix with a wooden spoon until all ingredients are well blended.
Divide dough into 3 balls and let sit in the bowl. The dough will be slightly sticky.
Place the cinnamon and sugar into a small bowl and mix together. Set aside.
Place a piece of freezer paper on a counter (It should be larger that the cookie sheet). This will be used to roll out the dough.
Take about ¼ cup of the sugar mixture and place it on the center of the freezer paper.
Place a ball of dough on the sugar mixture. Press down the ball of dough so that it is flat.
Turn over the dough ball so that the sugar mixture covers both sides.
Take a rolling pin and roll out the dough so it makes about a 9 to 10 inch circle.
Cut the circle into halves to form 16 triangles. (Should look like a pizza pie)
Roll the triangle from the wide end to the short end.
Place each cookie on cookie sheet about 1 inch apart, when the sheet is full put in the over to bake for about 16 to 18 minutes or until golden brown.
Place cookie on cooling rack, let cool a few minutes and enjoy.
Yield- about 48 cookies.
