I used to make a dessert that involved layering buttered slices of stale bread and applesauce(I think seasoned with brown sugar, cinnamon and raisins), ending with a layer of buttered bread, then covered with a custard-like mixture of eggs, vanilla, milk and I'm not sure what else.
This was a favorite of my children when they were small, but the original recipe has vanished. Over the years I have never met anyone else who makes this dessert, and have never been able to find another recipe - hope someone can help me?! |
