this recipe comes from my mother's 1952 Betty Crocker cookbook. If I remember correctly it is almost identical to the Red Star recipe. (which I have lost also)

RICH EGG BREAD

Measure into mixing bowl:
1/2 cup warm water

Add and stir to dissolve:
2 pkgs yeast

Stir in:
1 1/2 cups lukewarm milk
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup butter, softened
3 eggs, beaten
1 Tbsp salt

Add half of:
7 1/2 cups all purpose flour

Mix with spoon until smooth. Add enough of the remaining flour to handle easily, mixing in with your hands.

Knead on lightly floured board, let rise and shape into 3 loaves.

Bake in greased loaf pans and let rise again.

Bake in a preheated 425 degrees F oven for 25 to 30 minutes or until a rich brown.
