BOLOGNA CANDY
1 cup sugar 1 cup nuts 1 cup thick cream 1 pkg dates (ground up)
Boil sugar and cream to soft-ball stage, then add dates and cook until mass separates from sides of pan.
Add nuts and remove from heat. Continue stirring constantly until thick.
Put on damp cloth and roll-up till cool. Slice.
BOLOGNA CANDY (DATE NUT ROLL)
2 cups brown sugar 1 cup milk 1 cup dates, chopped 1 cup coconut 1 cup nut meats Powdered sugar
Cook brown sugar and milk to form soft ball.
Add dates; boil for 3 minutes.
Remove from heat and add coconut and nuts. Stir well.
Drop onto wax paper to form a roll, then sprinkle with powdered sugar. Chill before slicing.
BOLOGNA CANDY (Gets its name from the shape and size of pieces when sliced)
2 cups sugar 1 cup milk 1 pound package dates, finely chopped 1 cup coconut 1 cup nutmeats, chopped clean, wet dishtowel
Boil sugar and milk until it makes a soft ball in a 'cold water test.'
Take off stove, stir in package of dates, return to heat. Cook until liquid is clear.
Remove from heat, stir in one cup coconut, and nutmeats. Beat until stiff.
Pour candy mixture on towel, and use the towel to shape into a long roll. Store in cool place to allow mixture to retain its 'roll' shape when sliced.
