ISO: looking for grandmother's cake recipe with sugary chocolate frosting

Misc.
I am looking for a recipe for a cake my grandmother used to make before she died. It was a layer cake. I think the cake itself was a white or yellow cake, but the frosting/icing was chocolate. Somehow in the frosting you could actually taste the granulated sugar crystals. Does anyone have this recipe?
