I am loooking for a recipe for tea biscuits. I live in the greater Philadelphia (PA) area, so these may be a local favorite, I'm not sure. My family loves the ones that you can buy in the local supermarket, but I want to try making them at home for a couple of reasons. First, I would know what is in them, and second they would be less expensive to make than to buy.
The texture is not quite a yeast dough, but a sweetened, richer version of a biscuit, with raisins and maybe a little cinnamon. Not like a hot cross bun, I've tried a couple of those recipes. Actually brioche dough would be close but still the texture is more crumbly than spongy.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
