ISO: How does one remove a cheesecake from a springform pan?

I know how to remove the sides of a springform pan from the cheesecake. My question is: do I leave the cheescake on the bottom of the pan and place the cake with the bottom of the pan on the serving plate? Or, should I try to slide the cake off the bottom onto the serving plate?
