Cinnamon Buns
2 c. flour 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 1 Tbsp. sugar 4 Tbsp. shortening 3/4 c. buttermilk 1/4 c. sugar 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
Sift dry ingredients in bowl; cut in shortening. Add buttermilk just enough to make a stiff dough. Knead slightly on floured surface. Roll into a rectangle. Spread with butter and sprinkle with the sugar and cinnamon mixture. Roll up jelly roll fashion and cut in 12 slices. Place slices in a buttered and sugar sprinkled 8 x 8-inch pan and bake at 475 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes until brown.
Cinnamon Buns
2 c. self rising flour 1/2 c. sugar 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 6 Tbsp. margarine 1/2 c. raisins 1 egg 1/2 tsp. vanilla
Combine flour, sugar and cinnamon together in mixing bowl. Add butter, raisins, egg and vanilla. Blend well. Roll mixture onto floured surface using rolling pin. Make into small round balls or cut with cookie cutter. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes until lightly brown. Makes 12 buns.
Vanilla Glaze 1 c. confectioners sugar 1/4 tsp. vanilla 1 1/2 to 2 Tbsp. milk Combine ingredients until smooth and pour over cooled buns.
