Naty, I finally had some breathing time yesterday, so I tried the Yellow Cake recipe. You are right - it's the best scratch yellow cake I've ever tasted. It reminded me of the Duncan Hines "butter recipe" box mix - the gold standard for box mix yellow cakes as far as I'm concerned. The batter had the same thick, rich quality, and the baked layers had a nice, moist yet light crumb. I topped it with a simple chocolate butter cream icing, because I wanted the taste of the cake to shine through, and it was just terrific. I'm so happy to have a truly delicious yellow cake scratch recipe, so I don't have to worry about chemicals and transfats when I want to make a treat for my kids.
