ISO: apple pie with unusual top

I am looking for an apple pie recipe for my mother. She thinks it might have been posted in Capper's Weekly paper but not sure. According to her the pie was a 2 crust pie that you baked at 400 degrees or more for maybe 1/2 hour. Then you removed it from the oven, pressed down the crust and topped it with pecans and some other ingredients. SHe was thinking maybe cream or milk and brown sugar.
She helped me out with a recipe for thanksgiving dinner that I misplaced and I would like to help her out as well.
