MOM'S TEA BISCUITS
This recipe is from a fishing village in Nova Scotia. My mom and her grandmother made them so the recipe is very old. Not hard to make, I like making them when I make homemade beans, men just love them anytime. I hope you enjoy them and let me know.
Mix together: 1 tsp. salt 4 cups flour (regular) 8 tsp. baking powder 1 cup Crisco shortening (only Crisco, doesn't do well with any other shortening. You can try another brand, but this is what I was told)
Add: 2 cups milk The dough will be very tacky.
Spread flour on to counter. Lay dough on flour, knead 5 or 6 times, dough will come together.
Roll out with rolling pin to desired thickness. You can use any kind of circular cutter - I use is an empty tomato sauce tin, the small one. Place on lightly greased baking sheets.
Bake at 350 degrees F for 15 minutes or until tops are a golden brown (no longer than 15 minutes).
ENJOY :)
