COOGAN

My Mom used to make this recipe on holidays while I was growing up. She is an excellent baker. She has also made cinnamon rolls with the dough. Enjoy!

1 package yeast
1/4 cup warm water
1 1/2 cup milk (scalded and cooled), divided use
6 cup flour, divided use
1 tsp salt, divided use
1/4 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup sugar
2 eggs, beaten (room temperature)
FOR TOPPING:
melted butter
ground cinnamon and sugar

Dissolve yeast in warm water. Add 1 cup cooled milk, 2 cups flour, and 1/2 tsp salt. Let rise 20 minutes, then add remaining 1/2 cup milk.

Cream butter, sugar, eggs, and remaining 1/2 tsp salt together. Add to yeast mixture and mix.

Add remaining 4 cups flour and knead. Let rise two times (kneading in between).

Put in three (8 inch) cake or pie pans. Brush top with melted butter and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar. Let rise again.

Bake 20 minutes at 350 degrees F. Cool on racks.
