This is my favorite Cranberry Bread recipe.

Cranberry-Orange Bread

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method

2 cups flour -- sifted
1 cup sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup chopped nuts
2 cups fresh chopped cranberries
1 orange, juice and grated peel
2 tablespoons melted shortening
1 egg -- well beaten

Sift tigether flour, sugar, soda, baking powder and salt. Add nuts and berries. Combine juice, peel and shortening in measuring cup; add water to equal 3/4 cup. Stir in beaten egg. Pour into dry mixture and stir just until moistened. Spoon into greased loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees about 1 hr. Remove from pan, cool on rack.
