This is from an old Duncan Hines book - and it was very good when I used to make them - over 15 years ago!
CHOCOLATE PEANUT CANDY CLUSTERS
2 cups Duncan Hines Deluxe Devils Food Cake Mix* 1 egg 1/4 cup water 1-1/4 cups salted peanuts
GLOSSY FUDGE FROSTING: 3 tablespoons plus 2 teaspoons water 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter or margarine 2 cups confectioners' sugar 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Combine ingredients for cookies; drop from a greased teaspoon about 3 inches apart on greased cookie sheets. Try to mound fairly high. Bake at 350 degrees F for about 15 minutes.
For Glossy Fudge Frosting: Heat water and butter until butter just melts. Combine confectioners' sugr and cocoa; add half to liquid and beat until smooth. Add remaining ingredients; beat until smooth and creamy. Add more sugar to thicken or water to thin frosting if needed for good spreading consistency. Frost cookies when cool.
Makes about 2-1/2 dozen 3-inch cookies
*Use remaining mix to make cupcakes. See package for directions. |
