ISO: (French) Vanilla Slice

Misc.

Hi all,

Here is another new foudn favorite of mine... I just discovered this yummy dessert at the corn French bakery ("French Fantacy" is the name.) I am not too sure whether or not if it's really French as I have seen similar dessert at a Polish Bakery further down the same road...

OK, it has 3 layers of VERY CRISPY filo/puff pastry(?) and filled with soft vanilla custard in between the pastry. It's dusted with icing/powder/confectioner's sugar on the top. It's not overly sweet, no strong vanilla flavor.

I have done site wide search but haven't come up with one that I dare to try out. Do you have a "true and tried and not-too-difficult" recipe just like this one? Please share it with me. It costs me $3.00 AUD to buy a small slice (and I have to eat it with a cup of latte). Shamefully, I have been lured (succesfully) to buy one slice since I bought my first slice (2 weeks ago) when I go down that direction. It just says " BUY ME!" at the display window...

regards,
