Anna, if I were you - I'd try to get the instructions for your machine. You should be able to find Panasonic on-line(or their 800 #). And you should then be able to get their manual for a small price. Each brand of machine seems to operate just a bit differently .... some you put the liquid in first --- others the dry ingredients. Panasonic, if memory serves, has a special place where you put the yeast. Also ... some machines make 1, 1-1/2 and/or 2 lb loaves. Some just make 1 or 2 sizes. You'd hate to put in the ingredients for a 2 lb loaf - in a 1 lb machine ... it would overflow after rising all over the place!

There are some great ABM recipes right here on TKL - just below this message board on baking - you'll find a place where you can click on for bread recipes ... and I've gotten some great ones there.

My only other word of caution (and i love my bread machine!) would be to first make a basic bread (maybe yeast white) from the manual/book that you can or should be able to order from Panasonic. That should show you how the machine works ... and then when you go with something more expensive like rum raisin or dried cherry chocolate or ???? .... you won't be as likely to end up with an expensive mess tht you might have to toss out.

Enjoy ... its a wonderful time saver and a good work horse.
