Mom and I were scanning through the recipes this evening and we came across several entries about baking ammonia so we decided to post ours.
(This was always my favorite of Mom's Christmas cookies!! They are wonderful to dunk in coffee or tea.
Ammonia Sugar Cookie recipe
2 c sugar
1 c shortening
Dissolve 3 teaspoon baking ammonia in 3/4 c milk
1 t salt
1 T lemon or vanilla flavor
2 eggs
5 c sifted flour (I use a little more)
Cream shortening, sugar, eggs and milk. Add flour salt and other ingredients. Mix till you have stiff batter. Roll out and cut out into desired shapes.
Bake 350 till light brown.
