Thanks to both of you - I will try this other recipe for Kasutera, although it looks alot more complicated procedure wise. It will probably mean there is a difference in the end product.
I have enjoyed Kasutera as a child and growing up in Hawaii - my grandmother in Japan also shared with me that similar story of how the cake came to be. Thank you.
