is cardamom seeds. It won't make the tea sweet though.

My friends here make it in a saucepan on the stove -

Boil the water, add the tea, milk and sugar to taste plus cardamom and
cinnamon. Bring to boil once, strain and serve. You can also, in some Asian
stores, get something called Chai Masala. Chai is Hindi for tea. This is a
ready mix you just add to the tea.
