========================================== Authentic Swedish Meatballs "Köttbullar"
This is how we make meatballs in Sweden:
500 g minced meat ( 50%pork 50% beef) 1 egg 1 small onion 3 tablespoons of breadcrums 1 boiled potato 1 dl water 1/2 teespoon of salt finely grounded white pepper
in a bowl, mix breadcrums, salt, pepper and the onion very finely grated. Add the water and leave it for ten minutes.
finely mash the potato and mix that in together with the egg and the minced meat.
Roll (easiest with wet hand) meatballs that are max 1" in diameter
fry them in butter in a pan and shake the pan every so often to make them brown all the way around.
Serve it with boiled potatoes, gravy (with a little bit of cream in it) and lingonberrysauce.
Lingonberry is a very tradional Swedish thing to eat with meatballs.
We also eat it with stewed macaronis (macaronis boiled in milk) |
