For anyone that is interested:
CHERNOSLIV LAYER CAKE
CAKE: 1 cup butter 1 cup sugar 2 eggs 1/4 cup cream 4 cups flour 2 tsp baking powder 1 tsp almond extract pinch of salt FILLING: 1 lb prunes 1 cup sugar 1 tsp cinnamon 1 tsp lemon or vanilla 1/2 cup prune juice
Mix and knead the cake ingredients and divide into 5 parts.
Press into prepared pans the same size and bake at 350 for 15 minutes.
FOR FILLING: Cook prunes in pot, covered with water for 15 minutes. Drain, reserve 1/2 cup of liquid. Return prunes to pot add the 1/2 cup of liquid and sugar and cook long enough until it looks thick to spread. Cool then add the extract.
TO ASSEMBLE: Place 1 cake layer on platter, spread with filling, and repeat with spreading and stacking. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate at least 2 hours.
