For a fun and beautiful cakelet, try baking a cake in a 9x13" pan and cutting it into individual sized squares (approx. 3" squares). Use a light colored petits four icing to cover the top and sides. Using a darker colored icing to dip the bottom in after the top and sides have dried gives them a really nice look. After the cakelette's icing has completely dried, brush a small amount of a clear glaze on the top to "glue" an edible flower on the top. When you have the flower placed perfectly, brush the clear gaze on top of the flower and cakelette to "seal" in the flower and give the cakelette a glassy finish.
