Hello Eleanor,

Here are a couple of versions for you. While the diet that circulated with it was bogus the soup itself is a good low calorie alternative for snack food:

Here is the cabbage soup recipe of the diet fame:

6 large green onions
2 green peppers
1 or 2 cans of tomatoes (diced or whole)
1 bunch celery
1/2 head cabbage
1 package Lipton soup mix
1 or 2 cubes bouillon (optional)
1 (48 oz) can V8 juice (optional)

Season to taste with salt, pepper, parsley, curry, garlic powder, etc.

Cabbage Soup

Date: December 14th 1997
Board: recipelink.com Holiday Cooking Club

6 carrots
6 green onions
1 (16-oz.) can whole or crushed tomatoes
1 large head cabbage
2 8-oz. cans green beans
2 green peppers
1 bunch celery
2 chicken or beef bouillon cubes or packages
Optional: salt, pepper, parsley, salsa

Cut vegetables into small pieces. Place with bouillon cubes or powder in a large pot filled quarter of the way with water. Vegetables give off liquid as they cook, but you may need to add more water. Bring to a boil over high heat and cook for 10 minutes. Reduce heat and simmer until vegetables are tender.

Eat soup as desired as a "free food."

Happy Cooking!
