I was looking for a recipe for some sweet potatoes and low and behold I found a recipe from an unknown author for Spanish Rice. I do not know if this is the Mahatma spanish Rice Mix Clone but you can play with it and maybe you can get wat you want.
FLAVORED RICE GIFTS
Note: Be sure to attach cooking directions. The cooking time of flavored rices remains unchanged fo that given on whatever kind of rice you use.
SPANISH RICE
Quanity: ~ 4 Cups Storing: Airtight containers, in cool place, up to 6 months
4 C uncooked rice 1/2 tsp. ground saffon 2 tsp. dried parsley 2 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 C dried sweet red pepper flakes 1 Tbsp. dried onion flakes 1 1/2 tsp cracked black pepper
Mix all ingredients together in mixing bowl. Divide equally into four containers-jars with lids or plastic bags. Seal airtight.
BEEF RICE
Quantity: ~4 C Storing: Airtight containers in cool place, up to 6 months
4 C uncooked rice 4 Tbsp. powdered instant beef bouillon 2 tsp. dried thyme 2 tsp. dried parsley 1/4 tsp. cracked black pepper 1 tsp. coarse salt (optional)
Mix all ingredients together in mixing bowl. Diide equally into four containers-jars with lids or plastic bags. Seal airtight.
ONION RICE
Quantity: ~ 4 C Storing: Airtight containers, in cool place, up to 6 months
4 C uncooked rice 2 packages dried onion-soup mix 1/2 tsp. garlic powder 1/4 tsp. dried celery seed 1 tsp. dried parsley 1/2 tsp. coarse salt (optional)
Mix all ingredients together in mixing bowl. Divide equally into four containers-jars with lids or plastic baggs. Seal airtight.
CHICKEN OR LEMON RICE
Quantity: About 4 C Storing: Airtight containers, in cool place, up to 6 months
4 C uncooked rice 4 Tbsp. powdered instant chicken bouillon 2 tsp. dried tarragon 2 tsp. dried chopped chives 1/4 tsp. ground white pepper 1 tsp. coarse salt (optional)
Mix all ingredients together in mixing bowl. Dive equally into four containers-jars with lids or plastic bags. Seal airtight.
For LEMON RICE, substitute 1 1/2 Tbsp. grated lemon rine, 2 tsp. dried parsley and 1/2 tsp. cracked black pepper for the last 3 ingredients excluding coarse salt.
Try mixing dried sweet red pepper flakes and dried tomatoes chopped up get the flavor you want.
I have made the Chicken Rice and my family loved it using homemade chicken bouillon. Or you can go to the healthfood store and by bouillon that would be lest salty. Anyway I did not use any coarse salt to the recipe.
