Here is a recipe that I call "Rice Ala Merry". My family and friend just love it.
Rice Ala Merry
1 package of Lipton's dry chicken noodle soup mix 3 Tbs. of butter 2-1/2 cups of water 1 cup uncooked rice 3-4 Tbs. of Gravy Master (do not use Kitchen Bouquet) 1 Tbs. minced dry onion
Melt butter in large fry pan. Brown noodles of dry chicken soup mix with butter. The newer boxes of soup mix has the noodles mixed in with the flavouring mix. It is ok to brown with noodles. (If the flavouring or what we used to call the "fat" of the soup is seperate from the noodles do not add until you have added the water.)
Add water, rice, Gravy Master and onion. Stir and bring to boil. Lower heat on stove to low, cover and cook for 25 minutes, or until all liquid is absorbed. DO NOT STIR during cooking. The rice will take on a brown coloringand great flavor from the Gravy Master. Once cooked, stir and serve. Goes great with any meat, especially pork. Enjoy! |
