Julie, I live just "up the street" from your old neighborhood!

Misc.

I was raised in the Palm Beaches beginning in 1952 (when I was two years old!) and it was a very friendly and great place to grow up - everyone knew everyone else (the downside, of course, was that you couldn't get away with anything!).

The community where I live now consists of people who have moved to Florida from anywhere and everywhere so you would think they'd want to meet new people, especially their immediate neighbors, right? Well, I had the same experience as you did in Miami - I've lived in this house for five years now and people walk right by me without saying a word! I always say hello and ask how they are or say how beautiful the day/night is, because I will prevail! I am lucky in that my street has the nicest people in the community and as houses turned over, I did what Elly did...I went over and introduced myself and delivered something homemade. Now we all get together a few times each year and all of us feel free to ask or borrow anything from each other. But I must admit I was pretty depressed when I first moved here.

Let us know how your moving in comes along, Julie. By the way, what direction have you moved from Miami?

Janet
