Cherish, I would be happy to repost the recipes. It is from a 1950 cookbook called

Custard Pie
From: The American Family Cook Book, 1950

plain pastry (here the recipe goes into detail about lining the pie pan and fluting - just do your regular)

3 eggs, slightly beaten
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 tsp salt
3 cups bottled milk (I would assume this means pasturized)
1 tsp vanilla

Combine the eggs, sugar and salt. Add the milk and vanilla, pour into the unbaked pastry shell. Bake at 450 degrees in a preheated oven for 30-40 min. or until a silver knife inserted in the center comes out clean (why silver, I don't know).

Caramel Custard
Melt and brown the sugar in frying pan before adding in recipe for custard pie.

Coconut Custard Pie
Add 1/4 cup shredded coconut to custard mixture in recipe for custard pie.

It goes on to show 8 more variations, including coffee, squash, and date, to name a few of the more unusual.
