Some smoothies I have made at home are so delicious that they take the place of a meal.
In your blender, throw in some ice cubes, a peeled banana, a splash of orange juice, some strawberries or blueberries if you have them and blend away. If too thick add a splash of OJ again. YUM!! You can variate the fruits seasonally, mango, papaya, assorted berries, etc.
This one is really good, I found it in a book and it is to die for....see if your library has it or better yet, buy it if you are really into smoothies.
BLUEBERRY VELVET CHEESECAKE SMOOTHIE Mary Corpening Barber and Sara Corpening Whitefor / Reprinted from Smoothie: 50 Recipes for High Energy Refreshment (Chronicle Books, 1997) Yield: 2 servings 1 (8-ounce) container blueberry yogurt 1/2 cup grape juice 1/4 cup regular or low-fat cream cheese 1 tablespoon maple syrup 2 1/2 cups frozen blueberries
Combine the yogurt and grape juice in a blender. Add the remaining ingredients and blend until smooth. Serve immediately.
