Hi Jessica and Hannah:
Here is a very easy and elegant appetizer recipe that all the kids in your class should like.
It is Fruit with Yogurt Dip
Arrange fresh fruit on platter with small bowl in center for dip. Fruit can be anything you like but have four different varieties with also color differences eg. strawberries (washed), green seedless grapes (washed), sliced apples that have been dipped in lemon juice to keep from browning and slices of cantaloupe (the orange one). You want to have a color variety to make the platter look pretty and interesting. You may choose whatever fruit you like.
You could also make them into fruit kabobs Place fruit on cocktail swords or toothpicks, alternating 1 strawberry half, 1 pineapple chunk and 1 melon ball on each.
The dip is real easy. Take one container of vanilla yogurt or plain yogurt (for a more tangier dip) and add about 2 tblsp. brown sugar to each cup or to taste. If you like it less sweet add less and if it isn't sweet enough add more. Chill for a couple of hours then put in bowl in center of platter. Be sure to have tootpicks in small container on platter or next to it.
Enjoy!
