I bought one and enjoy it immensely. I'm not sure about the 800 number, I'll check tonight when I'm home. Did you get a little booklet with your machine. It has lots of great recipes in it. I've given 4 of these for gifts. It's a nice treat and only takes 30 minutes. I pour the ingredients in right before sitting down to dinner when I have company.
One thing to remember, put the freezable part in the freezer a couple of days before you want to use it (along with the paddle). It has to be frozen solid or it won't work. All the ingredients need to be cold as well. Don't let all this keep you from using it, I have made most of the recipes and haven't been disappointed with one.
