Try this recipe for meringue and maybe it will work for you.
Mix 1 tbsp cornstarch with 1/2 c water. Boil just until thick, in microwave or stove, stirring to prevent lumps. Cool. Beat 3 egg whites till foamy, add 6 tbsp sugar gradually,dash of salt. Beat till stiff. Add cornstarch mixture and continue beating till mixed in. Bake 425 deg about 10 min or till lightly browned.
Don't bake meringue too long. Cut with a wet knife. If you live in an area of high humidity that's a possible reason for sticky meringue. Good luck
