1 head cabbage finely sliced
mix equal amounts of vinegar and sugar and pour enough to saturate cabbage well. Let stand for several hours or better yet over night to marinate. Add finely chopped bell pepper, mix in mayonnaise and milk or buttermilk. Season with a touch of mustard, salt, pepper, and poppy seeds. This is the real deal.
