REVANI (Farina Syrup Cake)
1/2 pound butter (2 sticks) 1/2 cup sugar 8 eggs, separated 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 cup farina (cream of wheat) 1 cup flour, sifted 3 teaspoons baking powder (Syrup, recipe below)
Cream butter in an electric mixer. Add sugar and mix well. Add egg yolks and vanilla and beat well. Add farina, sifted flour and baking powder. Mix well and set aside.
Beat egg whites until stiff, fold into batter.
Bake in ungreased 9-by-13-inch baking pan at 300 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes. Cut cake into squares or diagonal pieces. Pour warm syrup over cooled cake. Serves 20.
Syrup: 2 cups water 2 cups sugar 1 slice lemon
Combine ingredients and simmer 10 minutes.
