CHERRY ICE BOX COOKIES
2 cups all-purpose flour 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1/4 tsp. salt 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, softened 1/2 cup brown sugar 1/2 cup white sugar 1 egg 1/2 tsp. vanilla 1/2 cup maraschino cherries, cut small 1/2 cup sliced almonds
Sift together flour, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
Cream butter and sugars together; stir in egg and vanilla. Stir in cherries and nuts. Stir in flour mixture and mix to combine.
Divide dough into about 5 rolls on wax paper and refrigerate several hours or overnight.
WHEN READY TO BAKE: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly grease a baking sheet.
Slice cookies and place on baking sheet.
Bake for 8-10 minutes or until done.
