I don't know if this is what you are looking for but this is all that I could find.

RECHNER FAMILY GOOEY BUTTERCAKE

"This has been in my x`s family. They had a bakery here in town for many years. They came up with it by accident. The story goes, when Great Uncle Aug was making Sunday morning coffee cakes, he had leftover mix. He would always come up with something new. This was the day that the "gooey butter cake" was born. The original recipe is longer and this one is much easier."

one yellow cake mix (no pudding) on this, using the store brand is best as they do use pudding in store brand.
2 large eggs
1 stick (1/2 cup) butter at room temperature

This will be real thick. With mixer add one egg at a time. Then butter. This is going to become the crust. Take this and pat into the bottom of the pan. Set aside. (Using a jelly roll pan will give you brownie like cake. Using a 9x13 will give you the cake size. I use the jelly roll the most.)

take 1 (8 oz) pkg cream cheese cream.
then add 2 large eggs one at a time.
now add one box (one pound) powered sugar.
mix till smooth and creamy.

Pour this over the top of the cake mix. Bake 25 minutes at 350 degrees F.

This is better to keep at room temperature.
