I lived in St. Louis many many years ago when Schnucks was called Bettendorf-Rapp. I was absolutely crazy about those cheesecakes & bought them for many years (everytime I went to the store I had to have one.) They were so light & airy you could eat half a cake & couldn't tell you had eaten much at all. I moved to CA & lived there for 20 years & when I came here once for a visit, I had to have cheesecake & went looking for Bettendorf-Rapp & was told Schnucks bought them out, but I was pleased to find they still carried the same cheesecakes that B-R had always carried. I was so excited they still had them I bought 5 of them & had my fridge in my motorhome crammed full of them on the way back to CA! I had to get rid of some of our regular food so I could have room to fit them in! I took early retirement & have recently moved back to this area & see that Schnucks no longer carries them! In fact the employees I've asked about the cheesecakes have never even heard of them!!! I would love to hear of someplace I can still get them or someone who has the recipe. I was told by B-R that they themselves didn't bake them, that they were made by an outside company for all of their stores. They must have baked a lot of them each day as they were sold in all of their stores & they had a lot of stores! If I could find the recipe, I have entertained starting a business to begin making them again for this area.
